Winter Narrative

During this winter break I didn’t really do a whole lot of things that were different from normal days. Originally, I was supposed to go to California with my best friend, Tarra. But, I wanted to stay home with my family and help out with my dad since the radiation kept him from traveling. Tarra ended up staying home also and just stayed at her dads’ house instead of her moms. My family thought about taking a trip too, but we really couldn’t go anywhere that was too far away from home. My dad ended up having most of the break off of work so we got to spend a lot of time together. My mom and I spent a lot of time up in Estes Park and looked at all the little stores there and just spent a lot of time together. Tarra and I ended up spending almost the entire break together too.
The very best part of this break for me was to go to the Dunes with Tarra and her dad again. We loaded up the quads and stocked up his truck with more food than we really could have ever needed. We went up to the Dunes for about five days not including the driving time it took to get up there. It’s always a lot of fun to go up that way because it’s just like a huge camping trip. We ended up taking their big RV instead of using tents since it was still pretty cold. When we got there we found this huge empty area that was right by the tracks so we decided to set up. So, we unloaded everything and went and got a bunch of firewood for our huge campfire that we made. We cooked some burgers and got out all the smores stuff that we had brought. Tarra and I broke open a huge box of glow sticks and covered the quads so that when we went riding at night they glowed. We definitely had a really good time over there and met some really cool guys that were right across from us the third day. We didn’t really want to go back when we decided to leave but everything had iced over and it wasn’t the best place to ride at anymore.
As you can see, I had a really good Christmas Break that I probably won’t forget for a long while. Even though it was really laid back the whole time, I enjoyed being able to catch up with people that I hadn’t spent time with in a while. I mainly enjoyed that I got to spend my break with the people that mean the most to me. Just kicking back and watching movies with my family and my friends is all I need to have a good break. I’m really happy I got to ride my quad since I usually don’t get the chance to during the school year. Even though I was pretty sore after I got back, I am excited and totally ready to go up to the Dunes again!
